    Spanning 35 years, 9 typefaces combined with the 9-colour gamut of 3 Projekt.
    By isolating a single letter from each, the focus is on the sculptural quality inherent in the making of a letterform.

    Gothic tech hybrid.
    Ghostemane, the underground artist known for fusing industrial trap, hardcore punk, and black metal, is the reason Obsidian exists, designed earlier this year. I wanted a typeface that carried the same collision: the spiked lettering of gothic blackletter, rebuilt with the hard, mechanical precision of industry. Each letter is rigid and angular, with sections cut out as if redacted, leaving disjointed negative spaces. Nine centuries of blackletter, rewired. Obsidian: black glass, sharp enough to cut.
